Overview
Translation plays a fundamental role in connecting cultures and enabling the exchange of knowledge between societies. The Tarjim Initiative was launched in collaboration with the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission to enrich Arabic content through the translation of high-value scientific, literary, and cultural materials. The initiative aims to improve access to global knowledge and broaden the horizons of Arabic thought by facilitating the exchange of ideas and information across cultures.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was increasing awareness of the importance of translation and its impact on enriching Arabic content. There was a clear need to improve access to global knowledge and expand Arabic intellectual perspectives through the translation of valuable scientific and cultural materials. Additionally, elevating the quality and depth of Arabic content through cross-cultural knowledge exchange was essential to address existing gaps.

TAM’s Approach
The Tarjim Initiative was implemented through a structured effort focused on strengthening translation activities and enriching Arabic content. The approach included:
- Launching a dedicated translation initiative in collaboration with the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission
- Translating high-value scientific, literary, and cultural materials into Arabic
- Improving access to global knowledge by providing diverse translated resources
- Supporting the translation of Arabic content, including articles and books, into international languages
- Encouraging cultural exchange and the sharing of ideas and information between the Kingdom and other countries
- Collaborating with local and international institutions to support translation efforts
- Working with multiple publishing houses to deliver translation and publishing activities
- Expanding translation efforts across various knowledge and cultural domains

What We Delivered
The initiative delivered a structured translation effort that included:
- Translation of scientific and cultural journals into Arabic
- Translation of articles authored by Saudi writers into other languages
- Translation of Saudi books into multiple international languages
- Partnerships with local and international institutions to support translation activities
- Collaboration with publishing houses to manage translation and publication processes
- Translation of books into several languages, including English, Korean, Chinese, and Spanish
- Translation of comic-style publications, such as Star Wars
